The exhibition, is supported by the Association of the non-profit cultural of WorkingArt – The Bridge of Trieste, it has 15 large images, including some megawall, created in 2013 with a digital technique on a rigid support. Testimonies of the exhibition will be of some of the women belonging to the Italian section of Femen which was started in Ukraine a few years ago to defend the dignity and rights of women especially against prostitution. These protestors cover themselves with body painting and bare breasts and some appear in the images on display.
The exhibition invites us to reflect on the theme of women and on some aspects of living as a female: the woman seen through the Burka or through the absurd practices of mutilations, such as breast ironing (stretching of the breast) and genital infibulation, but also through the sweetness of being a woman, the beauty of puberty, anger, misunderstanding, loneliness, ambig IUF’s identity crisis, depression, happiness, femininity.

On the occasion of Women’s Day, Armando Casalino has organized the exhibition / project “Woman” in which you can get carried away with images that address various social issues with an eye on women’s issues: the loneliness of infibulation, from the motherhood to fight for self-determination.
Femen participates in this initiative at the invitation of the photographer, findings in many of the images, the artist presents, pictures, stories and issues of “femminization” that affect the movement closely. Genital mutilation, the deformed bodies and the suffering of women from diverse backgrounds representing perfectly the reason why Femen fights: this kind of suffering or the suffering inflicted on so many human beings in different ways and in different parts of the world, only because they are women.
Femen participated just to bring awareness to the public the problems of sexist discrimination , problems from which Italy has always been plagued: homophobia, machismo and, consequently, feminicide. Femen represents, in our opinion, the answer to every type of gender-based violence, discrimination against the onset that follows awareness.
Femen also fights for re-appropriating of their corporeality detached from the fees imposed by external reality. It therefore proposes that there are only images of maimed women, but also women in the spotlight, struggling and protesting in order to have always, in every sphere of society and life, the right to determine their own body. With this conscious image, the topless Femen claims the beauty of interiority expressed through a different body, violated by violence as the norm from the runways.
The choice to depict disfigured bodies is perfectly adapted to this type of protest, contested and often misunderstood of the movement: that, in fact, to use the body as a weapon, as the last weapon left to the individual in a totalitarian society and repressive. Showing the body, however it is, in its naturalness is too often forgotten, in nude shapes- to lay bare, in fact, the hypocrisy and this closure in the eye of the beholder and who judges, to accuse, to provoke.
“One thing’s clear social impact” is the project of Casalino. And it is also this spirit in which we try to bring the revolution-Femen in Europe and, finally, in Italy. Despite our inexperience, Armando was able to understand what and how we wanted to communicate, thus making an excellent service: his professionalism made us feel at ease and immediately we established a relationship of trust and sympathy. It ‘been nice to discuss with him about various topics, not only of women, but because he has proven to be a person of culture and a enormous humanitarian, extremely available and open to any project. The sum up of this day is extremely positive and a learning experience in both directions, no doubt to be repeated. The group Femen Italy can only say THANK YOU. Progetto “DONNA” 2013 – la critica
La rassegna, sostenuta da dall’Associazione culturale WorkingArt e dall’Associazione onlus Il Ponte di Trieste, propone 15 foto di grande dimensione, tra cui alcuni megawall, realizzate nel 2013 con tecnica digitale su supporto rigido. Testimonial della mostra saranno alcune donne appartenenti alla sezione italiana dell’Associazione Femen, nata in Ucraina alcuni anni fa per difendere la dignità e i diritti della donna soprattutto contro la prostituzione. Le associate protestano coperte da body painting e a seno nudo e alcune compariranno nelle immagini esposte in mostra.
La rassegna invita a riflettere sul tema della donna e su alcuni aspetti del vivere al femminile: sulla donna vista attraverso il Burka o attraverso l’assurda pratica della mutilazione, come il breast ironing (stiramento del seno) e l’infibulazione genitale, ma anche attraverso la dolcezza di essere donna, la bellezza della pubertà, la rabbia dell’incomprensione, la solitudine, l’ambig uità della crisi d’identità, la depressione, la felicità, la femminilità.

In occasione della festa della Donna, Armando Casalino ha organizzato la mostra/progetto “Donna” nella quale sarà possibile lasciarsi trasportare da immagini che affrontano diversi temi sociali con uno sguardo sui problemi femminili: dalla solitudine allʼinfibulazione, dalla maternità alla lotta per lʼautodeterminazione.
Femen partecipa a quest’iniziativa su invito del fotografo, ritrovando, in molte delle immagini che l’artista propone, immagini, storie, problematiche “al femminile” che interessano il movimento da vicino. La mutilazione genitale, i corpi deformi e sofferenti di donne provenienti da ambienti diversi rappresentano perfettamente la causa per cui Femen lotta: la sofferenza di genere ovvero la sofferenza inflitta a tanti esseri umani, in maniere diverse e in diverse parti del mondo, per il solo fatto di essere donne.
Femen ha partecipato proprio per portare agli occhi del pubblico i problemi del la discriminazione sessista, problemi da cui lʼItalia è sempre stata afflitta: omofobia, machismo e, di conseguenza, femminicidio. Femen rappresenta, secondo noi, la risposta a ogni tipo di violenza di genere, l’insorgere contro la discriminazione che segue alla presa di coscienza.
Femen combatte anche per riappropiarsi della propria corporalità slegata dai canoni imposti dalla realtà esterna. Propone dunque che non vi siano solo immagini di donne menomate, ma anche di donne alla ribalta, che lottano e protestano per poter avere sempre, in ogni ambito della societá e della vita, il diritto di decidere autonomamente del proprio corpo. Con la sua immagine cosciente, il topless di Femen rivendica la bellezza dellʼinteriorità espressa attraverso un corpo diverso, violato dalle violenze come dai canoni dalle passerelle.
La scelta di raffigurare corpi, inoltre, si adatta perfettamente alla modalitá di protesta, spesso contestata e incompresa, del movimento: quella, appunto, di usare il corpo come un’arma, come l’ultima arma rimasta all’individuo in una societá totalizzante e repressiva. Mostrare il corpo, comunque esso sia, nella sua naturalezza troppo spesso dimenticata, nella dimensione del nudo – per mettere a nudo, appunto, le ipocrisie e la chiusura di chi guarda e giudica, per accusare, per provocare.
“Una cosa di chiaro impatto sociale” é il progetto di Casalino. Ed é anche lo spirito con cui cerchiamo di portare la rivoluzione-Femen in Europa e, finalmente, in Italia.
Nonostante la nostra inesperienza, Armando è riuscito a capire cosa e come volevamo comunicare, facendo così un servizio eccellente: la sua professionalità ci ha fatt e sentire a nostro agio e si è subito instaurato un rapporto di fiducia e simpatia.
Eʼ stato piacevole discutere con lui dei più svariati temi, non solo di carattere femminile, perché si è dimostrata una persona di una cultura ed unʼumanità enormi, nonché disponibilissimo e aperto a qualunque progetto.
Il bilancio di questa giornata è estremamente positivo, unʼesperienza formativa in entrambe le direzioni, indubbiamente da ripetere.
Il gruppo Femen Italia può solo dire GRAZIE.
