“WOMAИ” 2014

“WOMAИ” 2014 is a collage of situations, emotions, state of mind, imagination, myth and culture; a project that speaks of woman historically and legendary, until we arrive to the moment that she is in today’s times.

Myth tells us of woman as scapegoats, like “Medusa”, as blamed for all the problems in the world, like “Pandora”, as the bearer of sin, “Eris”, as those which create the remorse in men, “Le Erinni”, yet as the one who utter Oracles of the  gods, giving voice to the fate, “La Pizia”, Oracle of Delphi, but also as a parent, mother and queen, “Era” or Hera, sister and wife of Zeus,  the holder of sweetness and love, as was “Saffo”.
That was the way woman were seen then and still in certain cultural contexts archaic and ignorantly, in the proper sense of the term  etymological. The woman is an object, an object to possess, who’s role  is only in the context of the closed family reality, thus being deprived of a significant social role: it is from these concepts that some of my work comes to life, also which “Burqua-Burka” and “Infibulation”, denunciations of female genital mutilation. However, the violence does not stop there, the violence is also  psychological, even more ‘common in the so-called industrialized countries and/or civilized: this “Violence” diminishes and tends to deny the possibility of being a person.
Deliberately in contrast to the work of this size “Motherhood” enhances the image of being the Person and Woman at the highest level and the work of protest “Femen”  gives voice to the top of feminist protest be the Suffragate, in the early years of ‘900. In particular the latter work is part of a project developed  in February 2013 with the group “Femen Italy” that has received significant coverage in the national and international press.
From here the pace is a must: the last works represent and enhance the woman as a Person, a unique individuality, a woman who loves you, who actually wants to be a woman, with her charm, her sensuality, her beauty.
I purposely wanted to represent the sweetness, intrigue and complicity that can hide a look and so a kind of modern “Medusa” that rebels to her fate with gorgon eyes that petrified men, becoming a woman who is conscious of her charm, and enchantment to conquer.

“DONиA” 2014 Defining the works of Armando Casalino “photographs” would be extremely simplistic and more inaccurate. More properly it can be said that he uses the medium of photography from his goal to watch the unfathomable reality that goes beyond the visible, the one that goes into the interiority of the human soul through myths, emotions, the giving passions, this will give the viewer the impression of having traveled to another dimension where time stops and affects the vision. And it is precisely from the darkness of time that the artist brings out the figures of the myths: benevolent figures that give life to humanity, beauty, knowledge, hope, or that represent the dark side of the human soul, and thus with disagreement, war , revenge, perversion. Female figures, bodies, faces of woman in ancient primeval conflict of Eve and Lilith, that collect all the lights and shadows that also make up the human soul. For, as Jung says, it is rooted in myths of the human personality and it is through them that mankind can behold the spirituality inherent in his nature. The myths, inextricably linked to the emotions, passions, dreams and desires, fears and frailty of man, exert a power of attraction and fascination just because they have a sense for each of us and make us realize that, even though our lives are individually held in the present, which are related to those men of all times and all places. And in this spirit of universality these images are placed of Casalino, in a time with no name, no location in space. Only the pure emotion of vision: light, for a moment, penetrates the darkness to give us the primitive archetypal figures, symbolic metaphors transported from the past to the present of which still belong to it. And it’s always from the dark, a darkness denser and more palpable, closer to us and more guilty, which emerge images of the complaint. The Great Goddess is forced to be a submissive partner compliant to the male god: Eros is not experienced as a motivational thinker, at growth, thru opening, this relationship is feared and denied. And here are the most serious problems facing the world of today’s women. Topics painfully scratching the soul and the artist presents us with extreme sensitivity approached with discretion and empathy for those women who suffer but do not give up, these violated bodies are seeking justice. They are images that cry softly. Because art is also that. Art is also a challenge, a social necessity essential paradigm of our daily lives, directly involved in the complex social dynamics which promotes responsibility for the changes of society. “Beauty will save the world,” wrote Dostoevskij. And this is the final message, from the recent arts of Armando Casalino. From the woman a carrier of life, the Moon goddess archetype of the Great Mother, the woman who bears a message of brightness, beauty, serene seduction, wise awareness, which emerges from the depths of no more time, not the gloomy shadows of ignorance but by the brightness of hope. Images of a disarming clarity that can not but arouse admiration. That’s why the beauty will save the world. Since only relying on the values of beauty you can make a fundamental evolution: an awareness of their own values, their own qualities, those of others, the world in which we live, for the transformation of this reality in a just and free way, without forgetting the roots of our civilization of the past. This is the special message that the art of Armando Casalino brings us, giving a seed of beauty in each of us.

PROGETTO “DONИA” 2014 – CRITICA

“DONИA” 2014

“DONиA” 2014
