In an Epic that is simultaneous writes Accerboni-in which the myth of cultural in every meaning of the term is overlooked or even neglected, as is clear even in the acute essay “New rites new myths “Dorfles, the photographer-artist Armando Casalino performs an original event , refined and playful, in proposing these protagonists of our ancestral and distant past , with according to a strong and passionate setting of the scene towards a vivid coloring is essential: a work in which, on the black background of the scene, the light is the protagonist , obtained through LEDs, which highlights and updates the old pathos and often extreme in its violence and its passions, the mythological world, expressed through essential colors and determination, is symbolic.
A work of visual art which is bound to the concept of direction, because the protagonists of this quiet play and captivating, are coordinated in such a way by Casalino, composed, with the help of makeup artists, hair stylists and costume designers, twenty frescoes with great emotional impact , in which the major themes resonate tragic and eternal violence, envy, war, love, death, mystery and deception …
This task is of pictorial-theatrical taste, in which intertwines, in critical terms, a language of symbolism, the taste for performance, stage craft and the art of photography, the latter being understood as a kind of action painting, which gives us a contemporary vision of the classic myth, with the hope that it will become interesting and fascinating, a reason of curiosity and knowledge for the younger generation. In light of the matter this fits the theme of harsh language and intenseness of the body, the careful and intense gestures, accentuated by the art of makeup and the effect of eloquent tattoos, gliding elegantly in the art of body painting.
A courageous move, that of Casalino, backed by commitment and the high professionalism that is conducted by the author – in this case not only a photographer, but also a director, screenwriter, set designer and painter – with a lot of measure and balance, not always easy to achieve, as expression of values and strong feelings, not surprisingly often represented in Greek tragedy, synonymous with tragedy for excellence.
Sappho, Athena, Eris, Medusa, Pandora, Charon, Persephone, Selene, the Furies, the oracle of Delphi and other protagonists of the mythological concludes Accerboni – they alternate and follow each other in showing the light and color, translating into exciting reality , ancient and hidden impulses, which are certainly the origin of the intense creativity of Casalino.

In un’epoca come quella contemporanea– scrive Accerboni -in cui il mito, nell’accezione culturale del termine viene trascurato o addirittura negletto, come appare chiaramente anche nell’acuto saggio “Nuovi riti nuovi miti” di Gillo Dorfles, il fotografo-artista Armando Casalino compie un’operazione originale, raffinata e giocosa, nel riproporre i protagonisti di questo nostro passato remotissimo e ancestrale, secondo una mise en scène sottesa da una forte vis passionale e da un cromatismo icastico ed essenziale: un lavoro, in cui, sullo sfondo nero della scena, risulta protagonista la luce, ottenuta attraverso led, che sottolinea e attualizza il pathos antico e spesso estremo, nella sua violenza e nelle sue passioni, del mondo mitologico, espresso attraverso colori essenziali e decisi, simbolici.
Un lavoro di arte visiva che s’intreccia al concetto di regia, poiché i protagonisti di questa pièce silenziosa e accattivante sono coordinati in tal modo da Casalino, fino a comporre, con la collaborazione di truccatori, parrucchieri e costumisti, venti affreschi di grande impatto emotivo, in cui risuonano i grandi temi tragici ed eterni della violenza, dell’invidia, della guerra, dell’amore, della morte, del mistero e dell’inganno…
E’ un’operazione di sapore pittorico-teatrale, in cui s’intrecciano, sotto il profilo critico, il linguaggio simbolista, il gusto per la performance, l’arte scenica e l’arte fotografica, intesa quest’ultima come sorta di azione pittorica, che ci dona una visione contemporanea del mito classico, con la speranza che esso diventi interessante e affascinante motivo di curiosità e conoscenza anche per le giovani generazioni. Nel tema della luce s’inserisce il linguaggio severo e intenso del corpo, dall’attenta e intensa gestualità, accentuato dall’arte del trucco e dall’effetto eloquente dei tatuaggi eleganti, che scivolano nella body painting art.
Operazione coraggiosa, quella di Casalino, sostenuta da un impegno e da una professionalità molto alti e condotta dall’autore – in questo caso non solo fotografo, ma anche regista, sceneggiatore, scenografo e pittore – con molta misura e un equilibrio, tanto più difficile da raggiungere, in quanto espressione di valori e sentimenti forti, non a caso spesso rappresentati nella tragedia greca, sinonimo di tragedia per eccellenza.
Saffo, Atena, Eris, Medusa, Pandora, Caronte, Persefone, Selene, le Erinni, l’oracolo di Delfi e altri protagonisti del Mito- conclude Accerboni -si alternano e si susseguono in mostra nella luce e nel colore, traducendo in coinvolgente realtà, antiche e recondite pulsioni, che certamente stanno all’origine dell’intensa creatività di Casalino.
